SCOPE OF WORK: The Daring Way™ is a curriculum that should be used in conjunction with existing skills and integrated into Candidates’ and Facilitators’ existing practices. Certified Daring Way™ Facilitators and Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator – Candidates are only permitted to practice within their existing scope of practice as dictated by their licensure, training, or certification. Certification does not provide you with the skills to start a new line of work. For example:

  • If a person is not trained in group processing work, then they should not be facilitating these types of groups.
  • If a person is not trained in trauma, deep processing, or family of origin work, then they should not be facilitating groups or working with clients where these skills are necessary. If these issues emerge, clients should be referred to someone who could better meet the clients’ needs.

Please review our Candidate and Facilitator Standards Policy.

Note:  Students or trainees in these fields cannot begin the process of certification until all eligibility requirements are met.

What needs to be on my insurance document?

The Daring Way needs to see that you are covered for “professional liability”. Please make sure your expiration date is clearly visible on your certificate.

I live internationally and am not required to carry professional liability insurance.

We review international insurance on an individual basis. If you work solely within a country or countries where professional liability/indemnity/E&O insurance is not available for your profession, you will need to complete an insurance waiver that is available in your application.

How long does it take to get certified in The Daring Way™?

Eligible professionals attend a three-day, in-person training session, followed by 4 weeks of asynchronous online training*, and a minimum of either 7 fifty minute individual sessions or 5 ninety minute group sessions of practical oversight through case consultation. Case consultation cannot be completed in less than six months from the completion of one’s trainings. Committed professionals can complete all parts of training and receive full certification within one year of their in-person training.

*Asynchronous online training means that the online portion of the training will be done on your own time. The online sessions will be rolled out weekly.

Will Brené be attending the trainings?

Brené is currently planning to attend all 2019 trainings for a few hours. Our Certification Trainings are facilitated by members of our Senior Faculty and Certified Daring Way Facilitators – Case Consultants.

Are scholarships available?

All of our discounted seats are given through partnerships that The Daring Way has created through our Courage Catalyst program and The Daring Way Interns from the University of Houston for each of our trainings. Discounted seats are not open for application as they are assigned through our partnerships.

Are there payment plans avaliable?

The Daring Way does not currently offer payment plans. Trainings must be paid for in full at the time of registration.

Are Certified Daring Way™ Facilitators employees of The Daring Way™?

The Daring Way provides a Referral Network of Certified Daring Way™ Facilitators as a public service for those interested in working with helping professionals; however, none of these helping professionals are employees of The Daring Way, nor does The Daring Way recommend or endorse their individual services to you, should you choose to engage them.

Can I work remotely and/or online with a Certified Daring Way Facilitator?

Since Certified Daring Way™ Facilitators are not employees of The Daring Way™, they individually determine how they would like to work with their respective clients, within the scope of their licenses as established by their respective licensing bodies.  Feel free to contact any Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator found in our Referral Network directly, to ask if they take clients remotely.

I looked through the Referral Network and I can’t find any Certified Daring Way™ Facilitators in my area.

We are working on growing our network of Certified Daring Way Facilitators nationally and internationally. Please keep checking back for a facilitator in your area.

Will there be Certification Trainings for Leadership and Organizational professionals in 2019?

The Daring Way is no longer offering LOD trainings. Brené’s LOD work has transitioned to the Dare to Lead program. For more information on how to become a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator, click here.

Where will The Daring Way trainings be held in 2019?

Our 2019 trainings will be held in San Antonio, Texas. Although we do not have any international trainings scheduled for 2019, we are looking at international trainings in the years to come.

I am a student. Am I eligible to apply?

Students or trainees in eligible fields cannot begin the process of certification until all eligibility requirements are met (i.e., license and professional liability insurance).

I do not fit your eligibility requirements. What do I do now?

If you are not currently eligible for our trainings, we hope you will stay connected with us for any updates to our eligibility requirements. You can stay connected by signing up for our mailing list by clicking here.

What does pre-work mean?

Once your application has been accepted and you have registered for a training, you will need to complete our pre-work. Our intention with pre-work is to ensure that people are starting the in-person training with the same foundation of Brené’s research. Brené’s research on courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy is standard across all of our programs. We believe the more you see this work, the deeper it gets into your bones. You will need to read Brené’s books and complete the pre-work online videos, exercises, and assessments.
